The Friends Of Sharphill Wood is a new group established to protect Sharphill Woods on the southern edge of Nottingham. The Friends will be guided by advice from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and from Rushcliffe Borough Council who own the woods. Public rights of way will shortly be established and the wood will soon become a nature reserve.
Kate Troy is the energy behind the group and I have built and hosted the web site. If you would like to join in, contact us here.
A planning proposal has been submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council explaining how 1200 houses and a hotel (!) could be built on greenbelt land surrounding the wood. There will be a lovely view from the hotel bedroom windows, but a worse prospect from within the wood. Still you can never have enough hotels.
